PARISARA
Samarthanam Parisara, the waste management program initiated in the year 2003 by Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled aims to Educate and Empower youth to create business opportunities available in waste. The vision of Parisara is to educate the community to Reduce waste, Reuse and Recycles waste into opportunities that alleviate poverty.
The Major Accomplishments of Samarthanam Parisara:
Working with an objective of creating cleaner and greener environment through segregation of waste at source, reducing landfill space, Creating sustainable livelihood among waste collectors’, waste handlers’, waste pickers.
Ward Awareness program and Livelihood of rag picker community. And Samarthanam works in 28 wards with BBMP for an ITC CSR initiative program named WOW – Well-being out of Waste. This has benefitted Municipality by saving 2 lakhs rupees every month. Since 8 years, Parisara in association with BBMP has cleared more than 200 Black spot areas in Bangalore and beautified the place by Planting trees & Coloring the walls of the streets.
Samarthanam is working in 5 Wards since January 2022, for TESCO CSR project “ReWare” which includes Mahadevpura Zone – Garudacharpalya, Kadugodi, Hagaduru, Bommanahalli Zone – HSR Layout, Hongasandra of Bangalore . 1000 plus Pourakarmikas and Rag pickers have been sensitized.
For its environment-friendly activities, Samarthanam Parisara bagged the prestigious “Green Star Award,” a Procam International initiative marking the 5th Edition of TCS World 10K, in 2012. Puneet Rajkumar, a Kannada movie personality, and celebrity presented this award to Founder Managing Trustee, Mahantesh GK.

Suchitha
Food waste converter, installed at Samarthanam, converts 70-100 kgs of food waste generated in one day at Samarthanam into organic manure.
Solar Power Grid
Solar panels installed at Samarthanam support the electrical energy requirements of the organization.
Sewage Treatment Plant
STP built in at Samarthanam treats waste water by eliminating the harmful contaminants in the most ecological manner. The plant treated 66500 liters of water till date.
Plant Nursery
A wide variety of indoor and ornamental plants are grown at Samarthanam’s nursery planted in cement pots, for in-house purchasing and corporate gifting.
