Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled organised an exclusive Mega Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities in association with Karnataka Skill Development corporation and Department of Empowerment of differently abled and Senior Citizens GoK, on Saturday December 11th 2021, between10.00 AM to 3.00 PM at Manpho Bell Hotel & Convention Center, Railway Station, Railway Colony, 88, Gubbi Thotadappa Road, in Bangalore,
Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Higher Education, IT &BT Science& Technology, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood, GOK inaugurated this exclusive job Fair in the presence of Dr V. Muniraju, Director, Dept of Empowerment of Differently abled and Senior Citizens, Govt of Karnataka, D.L.Krishnamurthy, District Skill Development Officer, Bangalore Urban, Dr Mahantesh G.Kivadasannavar, Founder Managing Trustee Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled along with Leaders from various backgrounds. The Minister Dr C.N Ashwath Narayan speaking at the function said “The Government is prepared to partner, work, support and participate with Samarthanam, in skilling and organising Job Fairs for the differently abled. He also ensured that he will support Samarthanam in getting the dues from the Government , which Samarthanam has already spent on such initiatives ” He appreciated Samarthanam for the excellent job it has been doing.
700+ skilled job seekers, including Visually impaired, Hearing and Speech Disabled, Locomotive Disabilities from multiple verticals of education participated in the Job Fair, with the qualification of SSLC, PUC, ITI, diploma or degree, who did their best to make use of the opportunities. More than 35 plus companies participated in this job Fair to screen the candidates on their eligibility. Differently abled candidates, who wish to start their own business also got guidance on various government schemes besides getting mentorship to begin their startups.
In the present situation ‘Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) in India, based on the findings of recent surveys have lost their jobs post Covid and their mere survival is posing a challenge. The objective of this fair is to increase employment opportunities for several differently abled job seekers and offer a wider choice for selection to the recruiters. Says Dr Mahantesh G.K Founder Managing Trustee Samarthanam Trust “Every year, the Job Fairs organized by us is attracting huge numbers from the specially abled and we are happy to share that this is the first job fair which is going to be followed by 48 more Job Fairs in major cities. Companies from various sectors including ITeS, Logistics, Retailing were present to hire candidates and considered giving equal opportunities to the candidates.
