A full meal is the way to a sharper mind. India has a long way to go when it comes to eradicating classroom hunger completely. With the Government launching many schemes to alleviate the situation,Samarthanam, with its Mid-day Meal Programme is making an effort to beat classroom hunger in the city of Bengaluru. Samarthanam’s Mid-day Meal Programme in India was initiated in the year 2003 focusing on not just Samarthanam School children but also many other Schools in Karnataka. While the Mid-day Meal Programme adds various benefits to school children including improved appetite, nutrition, and their overall well-being, it also helps in lowering the school drop-out rate. It helps children attend school regularly and also do well in their educational activities.

Mid-day Meal Programme or Vidyaprasad is supported by Government of India and the Government of Karnataka. The objective is to provide healthy nutritious food to students from Government schools in and around Bengaluru and eventually eradicate malnutrition-related disabilities.The initiative also helps in limiting the school dropout rate.
The food is prepared in an aseptic, centralized, automated kitchen
and is supplied to all the public schools through customized vehicles. Over 2,50,000 meals are supplied every month to students in more than 56 Government schools in Bengaluru.
Vidyaprasad also supports Samarthanam women’s hostels in HSR Layout and Hulimavu. Vidyaprasad team also has been efficiently taking care of all the food requirements during Samarthanam events
