The grand opening of the SPL was held at Altiore Sports arena Bangalore.
The grand opening of the Samarthanam Premier League was held on April 21, 2021 at Altiore Sports arena Bangalore. Dr Mahantesh G K inaugurated the tournament and wished all the players to give the best during the tournament. A Puja was held to pay tribute to Late Mr Nagesh on his 5th death anniversary.
The tournament was organised to the Staff of Samarthanam and the interested cricketers registered for the tournament. The organizing committee divided the 65 registered players into 5 teams on the basis of lucky draw. The matches were played for 10 overs and a total of 5 matches were played on the same day.The final match was played between Sam Warriors led by Mr Narendra Pandey and Sam Strikers captained by Mr Vikas Kulkarni. The Warriors won the toss and elected to bowl. The strikers played well and scored 126 runs in 10 overs. In response to the massive score the warriors were bowled out for 58.
The Strikers won the match with 68 runs and held their nerves to lift the Champions Trophy. Mr Sajeev was the Man of the series and the Best batsman of the Tournament. Mr Kumar was the best bowler of the tournament.The closing ceremony was graced by various sponsors, heads of the departments and guests. The captains expressed that the unity that was seen during the tournament was amazing and they are excited to have more tournaments. Dr Mahantesh G K – Founder Managing Trustee of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled announced that the best players will represent Samarthanam Team and soon Samarthanam will have a Ground of its own to promote cricket effectively.
The first edition of Samarthanam Premier League helped the organising committee to identify the best players to form a Samarthanam Cricket Team. The tournament witnessed the unity and bonding which will help everyone for a better work experience.
