Samarthanam’s Inclusive Accessible Building in Dharwad inaugurated on May 15th
Samarthanam’s new accessible building in Dharwad – A building with meaningful access was inaugurated on 15th May by Hon’ble MLA, Shri Arvind Bellad, Hon’ble MLA, Hubli Dharwad West, Shri Chandrakant Bellad, Former Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly and Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Founder, Managing Trustee Samarthanam.
The special Invitees on this occasion were Smt. Neelavva Yallappa Aravalad, Corporator, Vanasiri Nagar, Sattur, Dharwad, Shri Govindraj B. Kulkarni, Plant Head- Tata Hitachi, Dharwad, Shri Achintya Chandra, Chief Operating Officer, Uni Abex Alloy Products Ltd., Dharwad, Shri Udaykumar Y. Bagunavat, Trustee, Samarthanam, Smt Vasanti Savanu Trustee and Shri Buse Gowda, Trustee Samarthanam.
With nearly 115,000 Persons with Disabilities in Karnataka and majority of them in North Karnataka, the new building aims to achieve the overall objective of @India 75, where no one is left behind in the developmental process. This accessible infrastructure, has the space for multivarious activities free of cost for enabling youth with disabilities like vocational training, higher Education, coaching for competitive exams, sports, recreation, arts and cultural activities, working women hostel. Samarthanam aims to equip youth with disabilities for a larger labor market in order to access good economic gains and lead a life of dignity.
Speaking at the function Shri Chandrakant Bellad, Former Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly said “We are very happy to be a part of this noble initiative and we request the community to come forward and support this organization” Hon’ble MLA, Shri Arvind Bellad, Hon’ble MLA, Hubli Dharwad West congratulated Samarthanam for striving to reach its goal and wished the organization great success in its mission.
Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Founder Chairman Samarthanam Trust said “It is a great emotional and triumphant occasion to be celebrated, especially in our Silver Jubilee Year, when I recall our growth from very humble beginnings and the marvelous ways in which Samarthanam has fulfilled its mission in serving the disabled and underprivileged. I would like to express and extend a huge thanks to Government of India and Government of Karnataka for all the support they have been extending for the last 25 years by grants, by allotting plots and sites and also allowing us to carry on many welfare programs, which has made us grow from strength to strength and prepare us to meet the challenges that lie ahead”.
