Dr Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar, Founder, Managing Trustee of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, spoke at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva today, advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities (PwDs) and the impact of COVID-19 on PwDs.
COVID-19 has disproportionately affected PwDs, exacerbating existing inequalities and barriers. Dr. Mahantesh shared his insights on how Samarthanam, with support from the Government of India and Corporates, intervened to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on PwDs and promote their well-being.
