Empowering the Visually Impaired Blind Cricketers by exploring possibilities and potential

Transforming and Empowering Blind Men through Skilling and Cricket Coaching for Karnataka, is one of the outstanding exceptions pointing towards possibilities and potential in a life with blindness. The Skilling Camp was inaugurated on August 16, 2022 at Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled Bangalore, supported by Unisys and implemented by Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in association with Cricket Association for the Blind in India.
The Project aims to reach out to 320 cricketers across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Pondicherry, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Cricketers are undergoing rigorous cricket coaching clubbed with classes on Digital and Financial Literacy, Basic Computer and Life Skills.
Mrs. Vasanthi Savanur- Trustee Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Mr. Shivaram Deshpande – COO Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Ms. Sumitha Datta, Mr. Timmy, Mr. Som and Mr. Bharathi from Unisys were present during the inauguration. Mrs. Vasanthi Savanur recalled the journey of Samarthanam Trust and promotion of Cricket for the Blind. Mr. Shivaram Deshpande recalled his days as a cricketer and the experience which helped him to acquire life skills to take up various responsibilities in the social sector. Ms. Sumitha Datta from Unisys congratulated the cricketers for choosing the Skilling and Coaching Camp. The leadership team from the Unisys presented Cricket Kits, Cricket Shoes and Training Kits to the Players.
