Samarthanam Trust for the disabled inaugurated the Resource Center for the Hearing Impaired on Monday 7th December 2020 in the presence of Shri Bhaskar Rao, IPS Additional Director General of Police Internal Security Division, Dr V. Muniraju, Director, Department for the Empowerment of Differently abled and Senior Citizens, GoK, Shri S.V. Venkataraman, Managing Director ANZ, MrPurandare, ANZ and Mr. Mahantesh G.K, Founder Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled.
The aim of Hearing Impaired Resource Center in Samarthanam is to enhance the education of the Hearing Deficit Children by guiding them in a way that would help them to comprehend, learn the content of school subjects and participate in the class with the mainstream students and also focus on advocacy to raise awareness about the deaf community at an individual and community level.
Here in Samarthanam, audiometry tests are done to the hearing impaired to understand the hearing functions and determine how well the children can hear. The Loop Induction used here in the school is an assistive listening technology in the class room which is used to tune in to the students hearing level. The Teacher is equipped with a mike and what she says will reach the child’s level of hearing. The system is calibrated to suit the child’s hearing level. Along with these, the Teachers use Sign languages which are used as spoken languages, and which are composed of hand movements, facial expressions and body language.

The support from Corporates like ANZ help us in giving quality education towards empowering persons with disabilities and the underserved” Speaking at the function Mr Bhaskar Rao said “Courage makes anyone self-sufficient and Samarthanam is doing great service by increasing the capabilities of its students and employees by making them strong. So build the organization from the bottom and never succumb to fear’’ He said.
