A Day to Remember

10/10/2020- A day to remember

Celebrations bring joy. And joy began at Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled on the 28th of September when the people who had been a part of my journey celebrated my birthday and I recall fondly the impact each of these people had in my life.

The stage was firmly set for October and so was the joyous mood. Samarthanam celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi and Lal Bahadur Shastris birthday on October 2nd, Observed The World Sight Day with the theme Hope in Sight on October 8th and World Mental Health Day on Oct 10th and its no stopping here.

Many more days to remember and celebrate during this month of happenings. Yes the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11th, White Cane Awareness Day on October 15, United Nations Day on October 24th, and the National Unity Day on October 31st where we will be celebrating the birth anniversary of Shri Vallabhai Patel – The Iron man of India.

The Tenth day of the Tenth month in 2020 !! Its today. An exponential day with exponential minds in Samarthanam. We at Samarthanam find our energy being doubled and multiplied, as our journey opens to infinite possibilities.

There is a perfect alignment in our goals, as we approach disability from a human rights perspective. We are working continuously to increase empowerment of the disabled and less fortunate, reduce the humanitarian suffering through rehabilitation and achieving equalization of opportunities, thus bringing in full participation of persons with disabilities in social life and national development.

An important principle underlying this theme is that issues concerning persons with disabilities should not be treated in isolation. We stand together to commit ourselves for accelerating equality and create an inclusive society within the context of normal community services.
