Nayana’s Inspiring Journey from Haliyuru to NITK Suratkal with Samarthanam’s Support

Eighteen-year-old Nayana, from the quiet village of Haliyuru in Karnataka, is a shining example of resilience and determination. Her story is one of extraordinary courage, shaped by personal tragedy, a locomotor disability, and unwavering ambition.

At the tender age of nine, Nayana lost both her parents in a tragic accident. In the wake of this life-altering event, her uncle and aunt stepped in, becoming her pillars of strength. Despite their limited means, they provided her with the love, support, and encouragement needed to continue her education.

Living with a locomotor disability—which affects her mobility and daily routine—Nayana never allowed her condition to define her limits. Instead, she immersed herself in academics and quickly rose to the top of her class. Her thirst for knowledge and ambition to become an engineer pushed her to conquer competitive exams such as CET, NEET, and JEE Mains—where she achieved an impressive 131st rank.

This outstanding performance secured her admission to the prestigious National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Suratkal. But just as her dreams were taking flight, the weight of financial constraints threatened to hold her back.

It was at this critical juncture that Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled stepped in.
