Samarthanam inaugurates a GKN Livelihood Resource Centre today at Samarthanam HSR premises which is supported by GKN Aerospace India. The skilling centres provides technical and sector based skill training to youth with disabilities and from underserved backgrounds in various fields. The inauguration is being graced by Mahantesh GK, Founder Managing Trustee of Samarthanam, Karl David Orth, General Manager, GKN Aerospace and Prarthana, Human Resource Head at GKN. The uniqueness of the centre lies in it being completely accessible.
Samarthanam adds one more skilling centre to empower the youth and making them independent. The centre, being inaugurated at HSR Layout, is equipped with completely accessible infrastructure to support persons with disabilities and enhanced facilities for persons with visual and hearing impairments. The training, food and accommodation is provided free of cost and post training, the candidates are provided with placement and post placement support.
On the occasion, Mahantesh expressed, “We want to transform lives of youth with disabilities and make them self-sufficient. And Samarthanam Skilling Centre is a step towards achieving that. We joined hands with GKN Aerospace to execute the same and highly thankful for their support. This new centre would cater to the many young individuals who seek to lead a productive and independent life. I wish all of them the very best.”
Karl David Orth, General Manager, GKN Aerospace averred, “We are glad to associate with Samarthanam for the making of Skilling centre. Samarthanam is efforting to empower the young by providing all the necessary services. It is a noble initiative and we highly appreciate it. GKN takes pleasure in being a part of the inauguration and wishes good luck to the participants.”
Prarthana U, HR Head GKN Aerospace India expressed her appreciation towards Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled for the successful partnership in the past year towards community development and also making a difference in the lives of underprivileged youth.
Samarthanam has 13 Skilling Centres running currently across India at major cities including Bangalore, Jharkhand, Anantapur, Guntur, Delhi and Hyderabad. Around 8500 individuals have been trained across all the skilling centres with 75% placement record.
