In 2014, Samarthanam initiated a Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program in Ramanagara District of Karnataka establishing a ‘District Disability Rehabilitation Centre’ (DDRC) to cater services to around 30,000 persons with disabilities. This centre facilitates community based solutions in the areas of Health, Education, Livelihood and so on. The program receives partial support from Government of Karnataka.
Samarthanam, with support from United way of Bengaluru through Applied Material Company, set up RO Water Treatment Plants in Kolar district to provide safe drinking water to people from Yelesandra and Inorahosahalli villages of Bangarapet Taluk in Kolar District. Around 12,000 people have benefitted from the project, covering more than 2000 households resulting in improved health and immunity. We are in exploratory talks for scaling this project to other locations.
